Scholarship Luncheon 2025

SANDY, UT—On August 4, 2025, WCF Insurance hosted its annual Scholarships Luncheon at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, honoring 48 inspiring students whose stories reflect resilience, purpose, and a shared commitment to building a better future.

This year’s event brought together two impactful scholarship programs, the Legacy of Learning Scholarship and the Dr. Paul S. Richards Safe Workplace Scholarship—for the first time in a unified celebration. These programs reflect WCF’s core value that people matter, and that investing in education is one of the most powerful ways to honor lives lost and support those working to make workplaces safer.

Utah’s First Lady Abby Cox joined as the guest speaker, sharing her message of resilience and overcoming challenges. Her remarks resonated deeply with attendees, many of whom have faced personal loss or are dedicating their careers to occupational health and safety.

WCF Insurance CEO and President, Matt Lyon, addressed the audience, stating, “Some of these students have faced great loss. Others are dedicating their lives to preventing future loss. Their paths may be different, but the strength and resilience they share connects us all.”

The Legacy of Learning program awarded scholarships to 20 students who have lost a parent or spouse in a workplace accident. The Paul S. Richards program recognized 28 students pursuing careers in fields like occupational medicine, industrial hygiene, and injury prevention.

The luncheon was a powerful reminder that behind every scholarship is a story—and behind every story is a future worth investing in.
