Now that you are comfortable with knitting and pearling, binding on and binding off, and possibly even knitting 2 together, come learn how to understand the structure of the fabric you are creating. Students will learn how to look at their knitting and identify errors, as well as how to correct them. At the end of this class students will understand why stitches look the way they do, so they will be able to look at many knitted items and reconstruct the knitting pattern. This class is particularly helpful in learning to follow intricate knitting patterns (including following charts), identify errors in patterns, and mend knitted items.
In this class students will learn how to knit entrelac. Some
samples of entrelac knitting should provide motivation. This is a surprisingly simple technique
that produces an amazing 3D effect. It is very special when using long-strand variegated yarn,
such as some of those produced by Noro.
In this class students will learn how to knit continental style. It involves less motion and therefore tends to be faster than the English style. Because one uses their left hand to hold the yarn instead of your right, it feels very different, and can help shed any bad habits picked up at the beginning of a knitting career.
Lace is a series of holes in the knitted fabric. Both beginning lace and advance lace are taught. In these classes students will learn how to approach a lace pattern, as well as follow patterns of differing complexity.
